There are some stories that you truly don’t believe. There are some stories where you check several sources to make sure it’s not a hoax. This comes from the Daily Mail in the U.K., so it’s legit. I suggest you read it fully.
In Britain, a mentally disabled 21-year old man described as an “angry,” “frustrated” virgin was given government money to go to Amsterdam and sleep with a prostitute. Some key points of the article…
1. The kid was mentally, not physically disabled.
What is the appropriate mental disability to get government-sponsored sex? As someone who plays video games and frequents tournaments, I have met several people that either have Asperger’s syndrome (which can be diagnosed) or have traits common to people with Asperger’s (basically extremely socially awkward). Yes, they are awkward and seem like social rejects and potential permavirgins. But a lot of these kids simply lack the social experience and have no clue where to start if they wish to improve. A government-paid sex vacation could potentially be a good starting point. It’s at least better than masturbating over a girl that friendzoned you.
2. “Refusing to offer him this service would be a violation of his human rights.”
According to the social worker quoted in the article, sex is a human right. Are we all entitled to sex or do we have to earn it? Who is entitled to what? Thinking like that could change the relationship between the sexes. If a man can potentially get sex whenever he pleases (from a sex worker of course), then sex might disappear as a motivation for men to meet women. Men then might seek out women for—gasp—love, and women might start looking for a loving relationship instead of trading sex for profit.
I especially love how the article then mentions:
Another man who has a brain injury has even had sex work built into his council care package.
This is designed to teach him to become sexually ‘self-reliant’ after his wife left him and took all their money.
Holy shit, the government helped a man that was screwed over by his ex-wife! Holy shit, the system realized that living well is the best revenge and that he needed a push in the right direction, instead of being numbed to death on medication!
I will be paying close attention to this story. I still remember when I first heard a similar story while watching Taboo on National Geographic.
